Introduction:

MOLD POWDER is employed as a liquid steel scavenger due to its potent deoxidizing and desulfurization capabilities, effectively reducing content. This specific mold powder is crafted using washed low-carbon graphite as the base material combined with other fluxes. It exhibits excellent lubrication and thermal insulation upon contact with molten steel, swiftly forming a three-layer structure. Its role involves lubricating the mold wall, preventing secondary oxidation of molten steel, and insulating the steel ingot head. Its versatility surpasses that of other types like power plant ash, carbon rock-based, or red mud-based powders. Effectively used for the protective casting of steelmaking molds, it significantly improves surface and tail quality of ingots and prolongs mold service life.

Functions include:

Insulation of molten steel surface in the mold to prevent premature solidification.

Isolating air to prevent secondary oxidation of molten steel.

Absorbing floating inclusions, purifying the molten steel.

Creating a slag film between the solidified shell and the mold wall, ensuring effective lubrication.

Enhancing heat transfer between the mold and shell to prevent surface cracks.

Usage and dosage:

1. The bottom of the steel ingot mold.

2. The amount of mold powder per ton of steel is 1.5-3 kg.
